Learn to drive in and around Launceston or even further afield with Launceston Driving School. We are a small business so we can be very flexible in regard to session times, and we can even work for you on weekends or after hours if that is your preferred time.
Meet Our Driving Instructor
Our driving instructor Tony comes with many years of driving cars, trucks and buses in Australia and the USA. More importantly, he has experience not just in a teaching role, but also as a driver assessor. He trained as a 'C Class' license assessor in WA where he also worked for the Department of Transport as a full-time Driver Assessor. Naturally Tony now holds a Tasmanian Driver's license and a Tasmanian Instructors License, but more importantly for you, the parameters used in assessing, that is Flow, Path, Look, Signal, Movement and Vehicle management are identical in both states - so he can do very realistic 'mock assessments' with you in preparation for your L2 or P1 assessments.
He completed his Cert IV training as a Driving Instructor through an RTO in Darwin, but the practical aspects were completed right here in Launceston! So he is a licensed, qualified Driving Instructor and he is a member of the Australian Driver Trainers Association.
Tony also has a mullet, two earrings but don't let that worry you - he is a big softie!
He has a spotless National Police Clearance, a Tasmanian 'Working With Vulnerable People' authority and First Aid training (in case someone gets a splinter!)
We Want You To Pass Your Driving Assessments
As an ex-Driver Assessor, he has seen fail after fail for novice drivers as they thought they were ready for assessment, but reality bit them in the bum. Head-Checks and Indicators!! Over confidence has cut short many assessments, and he will work hard with you to see you do not fall into that trap.
If you can display the skill, the attitude and vehicular awareness of a considerate, courteous operator, there is no reason why you should not pass your assessment first time out.
Is he dreaming? May be. He cannot make any promises because whether you pass is between you and the Service Tasmania driver assessor. Tony will only recommend you as being ready to be assessed when you and he is satisfied you are ready.
Are You Finding It Hard To Get Your Hours Up?
With our Supervisor Service, we can also offer a less expensive way to get your hours up. Using your own roadworthy vehicle, our Instructor can supervise you in a number of driving conditions and situations to increase your confidence, but at a reduced cost! You will still learn skills as you build up your hours in control and create those unconscious habits that all drivers acquire.
